Consecration enables us to hear God clearly and receive empowerment

Image
Well, it seemed like yesterday when we said goodbye to 2023 but here we are in February already!  All of January, we've been focusing as a church on the topic of 'Set Apart' which includes the areas of holiness, being consecrated to God and living in obedience and in accordance with our calling. The early apostles and believers were asked by Jesus to stay in the city of Jerusalem, until they were empowered by being baptised in the Holy Spirit. In obedience to Him, they waited patiently, gathering together and praying regularly. It was during one of these times of prayer, God spoke clearly lead them to choose Matthias to replace Judas (who betrayed Jesus).  Later on, during one of these times of prayer together, God sent the Holy Spirit and baptised them, they began to speak in tongues and received the power of the Holy Spirit which dramatically changed their lives to living in courage and boldness to preach the gospel!  You can read about this in Acts 1 and 2.  We le...

God will bring us across our 'Red Sea' as He fights for us and we participate with Him

Image
Last Sunday at church we saw a few things from the Word of God about how God brought His final deliverance to His people and brought them safely across the Red Sea onto the other side, and completely destroyed the Egyptians. Just as God brought deliverance to the Israelites, He'll do the same for us. Exodus 14:13b-14 contains a great promise for all of us today as we overcome obstacles that stand in the way of us walking fully in His plans and purposes for our lives.  “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” He loves to show Himself strong in the lives of His children today just as He did back then!  Exodus 14:15,16,26 NIV 15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. 16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Is...

Prayer as part of our spiritual armour

Image
In Ephesians 6, Paul encourages us to put on the FULL armour of God so that we can stand against the schemes of the enemy in our lives and the church and having done all that we continue to stand in the day of evil. He encourages us to put on various parts of the armour of God and finally to pray at all times! Eph 6:18-20  'praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel....' His exhortation to pray is twofold: 1) Pray for the saints  and 2) pray for him to declare the gospel boldly (while imprisoned I might add, for the gospel!) Why is that? Because we all need prayer! We all need to pray regularly for every other member of our church. We never know when someone could be going through a trying time or a 'day of evil' as Paul describes it in a preced...

The Kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force

Image
In Matthew 11:24 Jesus says "From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.". This might seem like something strange that He would say at initial glance. Is He asking us to be violent? No, but instead what Jesus was saying, was that when John the Baptist began preaching and baptising people, there were many many who began to earnestly repent of their sin and turn to God. But then he was imprisoned for his faith. Those crowds and multitudes of people then began following Jesus earnestly and in force. They were using positive aggressiveness to take ahold of the kingdom of God that John was preaching about and now to Jesus' message.  Jesus' was saying in like manner, it's the ones who are use positive assertiveness, who take ahold of everything that the kingdom of God entails for them.  In other words, we must not be complacent in our walk with God but as we eagerly and earnestly pursue God...

The Promise is for us and our children

Image
Early this year in January, God spoke to me regarding our Next Generation at church and said that He is going to pour out His Spirit in a greater measure upon them this year. The verse was from Acts 2:16-21 and Joel 2:28-29. “And afterward,  I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days." A month later, I heard of the revival happening in Kentucky. I believe God was speaking to me ahead of time and preparing me for what He wanted to do in our church through the Next Generation as His heart is broken over the despair and hopelessness a lot of them are facing. But the promise is for all of us! I believe God is doing something around the world and we will also experience it in His time. I believe we are in the initial stages of it already as a church! But He is looking for hungry hearts, hearts that are ope...

God is watching over His word to fulfil it!

Image
January has already come and gone!  I was pondering all that God did in the past month in our church and in my life. It's a good thing to look back and remember all the good things God did in our lives on a regular basis. It will encourage us and bring hope and faith for the future.  We all had a wonderful time of seeking God in January and particularly during our week of fasting.  God spoke some things to me personally during January and I have them all written down. These are scriptures He highlighted to me that are His promises to me for this year. I did this so that I wouldn't forget and so that I can daily bring them before Him in prayer, pray them over my life, and hold on to them until I see them come to pass.  I'd encourage us all to do the same. Let's go back over those words God spoke to each of us, and let's remember them as we enter February. Some things that God spoke may have already come to pass and some are yet to. But I want us to think abou...

Unless the Lord builds the house, we labour in vain!

Image
Hi Church! Today is not only the first day of Spring but it's the first day of September when we look forward to hosting and participating in our long awaited EN Oceania Regional Conference - BUILD 2022 at the end of this month!  This conference is going to be life changing and powerful for all of us! We have all been working hard, putting in long hours, most are volunteering their time to make this happen! God loves our hearts as we put Him and His kingdom at the centre of our lives, giving our time to serving Him. However, Psalm 127:1,2 says:  "Unless the Lord BUILDs the house, its builders labour in vain! Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain"!   King Solomon knew a thing a too about the hard work that goes into building and guarding.   He was responsible for the building of the temple of God and oversaw that in his lifetime.  As a King, he knew what it meant to have guards watch over his kingdom from potential t...
