The best food is free (because it comes from God) :)


It's not an understatement to say this recent season of lockdowns we're in have been very challenging in one form or another! The challenges look different for all of us, yet they are real. 

One thing that will keep us encouraged and give us the ability to not just survive, but thrive during challenging times is the soul food we get from our Heavenly Father. If we see our challenges and trials as a time of growth and refining, it changes our perspective, to look to Jesus, and to have an eternal perspective, asking Him what He wants to do in our lives through that season.

God took me to this verse this morning for our church and I want to encourage you to see what He's saying in Isaiah 55:1-3 from the NLT. It is intertwined among a prophecy about Jesus but it applies to all of us right now:

Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink - even if you have no money!
Come, take your choice of wine or milk - it’s all free!
Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?
Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David. 

Do we find ourselves emotionally/ mentally/ spiritually hungry or thirsty right now? Do we find our reserves are being stretched to the limits? 

What a great promise to us all: God has the finest of food that money can't buy! He wants to fill us with His food that is far better than physical food! He wants to give us His love that will fill our hearts to overflowing, much more than anyone else can give us. And all this is free! More than anything else, this
s is what will sustain us and nourish us during this challenging season or any season of life💙

But to receive this, we must first come to Him and listen to Him, in order to enjoy this feast!  I find that the best place we can do this is in the Bible where He speaks words of life and hope to us, and in prayer as we pour out our hearts to Him. What joy this gives me every morning and through the day! It's the best!

If you've not experienced this before, I'd encourage you to try it and experience the richest of food that you can receive from your Heavenly Father.  If you're in a dry season, I'd encourage you to draw close to your Heavenly Father during this time. He will strengthen you, help you and hold you close to Himself, that you too will be able to say "This is better than anything money can buy".

We can approach the Throne of Grace anytime!

Happy New Year! Hebrews 4:16 "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" We serve a God who is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!  His throne is unlike   any   earthly king's throne. Besides it being the most amazing throne, filled with His glory and majesty that is incomprehensible with our human minds, it is also a throne of 'grace'. Our God is   so  filled with grace, so much so that the writer of Hebrews calls His throne, the 'throne of grace'! Grace is God's unmerited favour, His kindness, generosity of disposition and also His   empowerment. We can approach this throne of grace without fear and trepidation. Consecration enables us to hear God clearly and receive empowerment

Well, it seemed like yesterday when we said goodbye to 2023 but here we are in February already!  All of January, we've been focusing as a church on the topic of 'Set Apart' which includes the areas of holiness, being consecrated to God and living in obedience and in accordance with our calling. The early apostles and believers were asked by Jesus to stay in the city of Jerusalem, until they were empowered by being baptised in the Holy Spirit. In obedience to Him, they waited patiently, gathering together and praying regularly.
