We can approach the Throne of Grace anytime!
Happy New Year!
Hebrews 4:16 "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need"
We serve a God who is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!
His throne is unlike any earthly king's throne.
Besides it being the most amazing throne, filled with His glory and majesty that is incomprehensible with our human minds, it is also a throne of 'grace'.
Our God is so filled with grace, so much so that the writer of Hebrews calls His throne, the 'throne of grace'!
Grace is God's unmerited favour, His kindness, generosity of disposition and also His empowerment.
We can approach this throne of grace without fear and trepidation. We can approach this throne of grace freely, boldly and confidently because of our trust in Jesus and His redemption in our lives.
We do this so that 'we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need'.
We need His mercy for our sin. He has offered this to us through Jesus and continues to offer it to us daily.
We need His grace to help us each day in our time of need.
The grace that doesn't give us what we deserve, the grace that is so freely available to us to help us each day and to empower us to live for Him.
'Our time of need' means at any time of the day or night when we need His grace.
We can do this by just a simple prayer for help!
I find it pretty amazing that we can be going about our daily lives, doing something earthly one moment and the next moment, we can step into God's throne of grace, into His presence, just by a simple prayer! That's all it takes from us. A decision to enter into this throne room by an act of our will. It's almost like stepping from one world into another!
And God always responds to our simple heart felt prayer for grace.
I'd encourage you to practice this habit, of coming before God any time of the day or night in prayer, when you need His help.
He is SUCH a good God and is always there for us, to forgive us, extend His mercy, and His grace to help us and empower us when we need it :)
I pray that this powerful truth would be a reality in our lives each day.
