In the days of famine they will be satisfied.

My heart has been heavy because of the job losses we've seen recently of some dear people in our church and the current economic situation which could be ongoing for some time. Some of you reading this may have either lost your job or perhaps your jobs are looking tentative. (If you're not in this situation and you're reading this, it still applies to you I believe, so please keep reading 🙂 ) As I prayed the other day, God led me to this verse in Psalm 37:19 I love the MEV that puts it this way: They will not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they will be satisfied. God loves His children. He is our Heavenly Father and He said many times not to worry about food and drink. This is a trying time for all of us. Our faith is being tested. Do we really believe what God says in His word? It's easier to 'believe' and 'agree' with His promises when everything is going well. But when circumstances change and the rubber hits the road...

God our 'Dwelling Place', our 'Security'

Psalm 90 is believed to have been penned by Moses in the wilderness on the way to Canaan. If you read it with that in mind, you can picture the Israelites living in tents, their journey to Canaan filled with danger, trouble and tribulations. Yet Moses declares of God in verse 1 'Lord you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations'. 'A dwelling place throughout all generations' would mean not just in the past when things may have been better, not just to their forefathers but also to them, not just a dwelling place in the good times but also in the tough times. For the past, present and future! The fact that they lived in tents did not matter, the fact that they lived with uncertainty of the duration of their journey didn't matter. The fact that they faced various difficulties and trials along the way didn't matter. What mattered was that God the great I am, was with them and was their 'dwelling place' or in other words 'home'....

"IF" My people who are called by My name.....

Here in Australia, we saw devastating bushfires earlier this year. While the weather forecast was for it to continue with a dry season predicted for quite a few months, God did what was not 'forecast' by humans and sent rains way before they were due! He heard the cry of His people all across this nation, as they turned to Him and cried out for mercy and for rain. As a result, we saw an end to the bushfires  way  before it was 'supposed' to happen!  Can He do the impossible again, while we look around at the fear and anxiety being caused by a new and previously unknown virus that's causing havoc around the world? YES HE CAN!  And my Bible says He will! But, He will do it when we His children, humble ourselves, turn from following our own ways back to Him, and cry out to Him! 2 Chronicles 7:13,14 contains such a great promise to us as Christians! He said this to Solomon and He is saying the same to us His children today: " if my people, who are called b...

Did Jesus really say to ask for whatever we wish and it will be given to us?!

I love studying the scriptures about prayer and what God thinks of and teaches us about this vital subject of our walk with Him. There is much I can say but one of my favourite verses in the Bible and also one of the most challenging ones is John 15:7 where Jesus says "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you". When you read it at a glance, it is quite amazing isn't it! That God would give us whatever we wish? Did Jesus really say that? Yes Jesus did say that!  But, we have to understand the context and conditions attached to this great promise! Jesus is talking about living a life of 'remaining' or 'abiding' in Him and His words. 'Remaining' in Him means, we are vitally connected to Jesus for EVERYTHING in our lives, depending on Him SOLELY and not our own abilities, talents, money, jobs, families etc. It means going to Him first and foremost for everything, it means acknowledging ...
